Mondays


Mondays. The generic day of the week used to symbolize dread and unapologetic discontentment. We look to Mondays as the day that we are supposed to start anew! We even mark it on our calendars as the day we will finally start that exercise program, or it's the first day of our new diet! But seriously, what happens on Mondays? We come up with another excuse to put our goals (that we know are for the BEST) on the back burner again. And we don't JUST leave it at that! We have the audacity to "claim" that our reasons for not changing our lives again are really hinderances that determine our joy in life--that these daily occurances that we are PRIVILEGED to experience are the worst thing ever!
Listen, I'm talking to myself. I complain a lot more than I care to admit. But I also acknowledge that I need to STOP and listen to myself when I say "my day is ruined because my coffee was wrong," or "I can't start today because the baby woke up too early... again...!" Seriously! How many of these first world problems do we have to dismiss until we realize that they are blessings that we GET to experience before we realize that we are just taking this all for granted? Okay, I'll get off my soap box here, but I'll just leave the above picture to speak for itself. Because we are blessed. So stop saying we can't start, continue, or thrive in a healthy lifestyle because we have sooo many problems!
